Kristie chose this quirky mare that was inspired by Man of La Mancha. It was fitting as she was the first of us sisters to beg Mom and Dad for a horse. Though I toss my nieces on a horse every chance I get, this summer her daughter Stella is going to her first official horse camp to get lessons. 🙂
I consider myself to be a fairly happy person, but I’m not immune to the occasional bout of tears. This entry contains 4 of my favorite things that never fail to pull me out of a slump: art, music, horses and encouragement to follow your dreams.
“The Impossible Dream” from MAN OF LA MANCHA (1972)
music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion
To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not goTo right the unrightable wrong
To be better far than you are
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable starThis is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how farTo fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly causeAnd I know if I’ll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I’m laid to my restAnd the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star
Here is a great cover of the song by Elvis:
