A sunset in the Maasai Mara. This painting is dedicated to my most loyal supporter – my mom, who just retired after many years as a 1st grade teacher. Though I didn’t get you for 1st grade – I was blessed to have you everyday! I want to thank you for everything you have instilled in me. Your love and dedication to children is admired and appreciated. I know who I get my patience from!
And speaking of patience, mine has been tested the past couple weeks. We are in the middle of closing a TV project and now that contracts are in the hands of the lawyers I feel the process is out of our control. In the words of True Blood – waiting sucks! Time has seemed to at once stand still and fly by.
But anyway, back to you mom – you have 3 daughters and 4 wonderful grandkids here to enjoy your extra time. I can’t wait to share grandma camp with you in a couple weeks! As the sun sets on this chapter of your life, so it gives rise to another. I know you still have many adventures ahead of you. As I quoted in my graduation speech:
Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any
direction you choose.
On and on you will hike.
And I know you’ll hike far
and face up to your problems
whatever they are.
Be sure when you step.
Step with care and great tact
and remember that Life’s
a Great Balancing Act.
Just never forget
to be dexterous and deft.
And never mix up
your right foot with your left.
You’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So … get on your way!
